Messy and shit. I cannot see how any enjoyer of the older seasons could think this season even comes close to being good. The dialogue was boring, especially Ruby. The story was so forced and the the build ups did not connect to the pay offs in any way (Rubys mother) at all. Even the good episodes had no soul. I think Russel T Davies thinks he’s way smarter than he is and used to respect the intelligence of the audience but now there’s so much boring dialogue and exposition and god dam I’m mad.(because I love DW and needed more to quench my thirst) The villains were so basic and surface level, almost Marvel like, The Maestro and Sutekh especially. I need some milk

I adored this season. I think it needed to be a little longer and needed a bit more time to cook. But over-all I really liked it. Ncuti is so lovable and just a delight to watch. The companion could've used more cooking time but I saw the potential. Also, I am aware space babies might be the worst thing put to screen. But I am a MASSIVE fan of Jinx's performance and every episode after that kept getting better for me. However, I am not going to lie. The constant edging of all these mysteries leading up to a very underwhelming answer to them all, was incredibly upsetting. Also a few more episodes is dearly needed per season to allow for more plot development and character development. I think this is a really good season and it is different but I found a lot to love!

  • @elsienova4269

The series was really bad in a way that I can only quantize by the word "vibe". The entire series did not have the vibe of Doctor Who, its themes, or strong moments for even one scene. Listen, I know its impossible for every instalment of every franchise to be made up of people that love the franchise and know exactly where to take it, but this is probably the least "Doctor Who" thing in the franchise since the very bad 80s children in need specials. Doctor Who is a thing that you can mold very easily but you need to always keep some things in mind that RTD clearly had no intent to keep. There's not a shred of Doctor Who's usual subtle darkness and maturity in its subject matter, there's not a hint of a new reincarnation of the Doctor having internal conflicts as it has always been the case, there's no chemistry with the companion, there's nothing that ties it together as a nice Doctor Who entry. Its clearly that RTD and Disney's goal was to just completely reboot the franchise and intentionally leave behind a lot of things so that the older fanbase quits the official show, making space for the new people. The awful social commentary in the new era is not a mark of propaganda but corrupt intent. They know that its bullcrap, and they're doing it specifically to push people away. Ncuti's Doctor is by far the least prepared for the role out of his predecessors and its very much clear he has 0 appreciation for the role or felt any responsability with it. RTD just told him to play whatever version of the characters he has played in sitcom style shows this far, and it painfully shows. And before you chime in with bullshit about "racial standards", there is a fan made Doctor Who series on youtube, Doctor Who 2012, who had a black actor in the titular role that did a WONDERFUL job and brought really nice energy and flavour to the low budget production. I really don't know which era, out of Chibnall or the current one is the worst, but Chibnall's era was plagued by mistakes in writing, themes, production budget, camera work, visuals, sound, etc. But there were still episodes where I felt there was an effort and heart to do fun Doctor Who, and Jodie herself clearly wanted to put effort into the role to be a good Doctor, and she gets a lot of deserved appreciation for it. For people that feel disconnected from this current era entirely and want more Doctor Who, I highly recommend both Doctor Who 2012 and Doctor Who Velocity as fan made seasons. They each have their obvious jank and cringe factor from their low budget and sometimes young cast and production crew, but they have a lot of heart and charm.

The problem is that Russell T Davis is an activist first and a show runner second. He just cannot help himself. He has to insert identity politics into every single episode. Columbus is a personal favorite- visually stunning, as you say but I believe the character of Casey does more than just fill space in a remarkable visual environment. I think her loneliness and isolation are key to the film. She's a very intelligent young woman, with heart of an artist who, like an artist, sees things those around her don't. I think the architecture in her town functions as a message in a bottle, so to speak, with notice that someone who sees what you see left this landmark here. You are not alone. When Jin enters her life, her conversation can expand from otherwise silent buildings to a human who hears her voice. She gets to hear her voice as well- and can begin to follow it.

I liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory very much. It is more true to the book . The sets are amazing and Grandpa Joe is more likable in this one. I don't understand the hate for Don't Look Up either or JoJo Rabbit . I also like Bohemian Rhapsody and Chicken Run 2 Dawn of the Nugget
